There’s a new team member on the block here at HR Assured New Zealand; say hello to Sascha Nicoll, our Employment Relations and Safety Consultant.

 

Sascha has over 15 years of experience working in the HR industry in both consulting and in-house roles. She enjoys helping business leaders to develop ironclad workplace policies and procedures and to stay on track with HR and health and safety compliance (so business owners can focus on other company goals).

 

As the newest advisor on our 24/7 Telephone Advisory Service, Sascha guides business leaders on a range of workplace matters including, people management, health and safety, procedural development, and support with our HR software, HRA Cloud.

I was lucky to have a chance to meet with Sascha over Zoom for an interview; we talked about her role at HR Assured New Zealand, how she winds down from work, her bucket list and more. Mandy: Hi, Sascha! I thought I’d start by asking you: what’s your name and role at HR Assured?

Sascha Nicoll: My name is Sasha Nicoll, and I’m an Employment Relations and Safety Consultant for HR Assured New Zealand.

Mandy: What are your day-to-day responsibilities and most important tasks?

Sascha Nicoll: My main responsibility is to provide employment relations and safety advice to our clients. I also conduct compliance audits for our clients and provide some context for our blogs.

Mandy: How do you unwind from work?

Sascha Nicoll: To unwind from work is usually just spending time with the family in the evening doing the normal family routine. Otherwise, a good movie or a good documentary.

Mandy: We just launched our new values – inspired and innovative, exceeds expectations, relationships matter, and we’re better together – which one resonates most with you and why?

Sascha Nicoll: The value of relationships matter is probably the one that resonates with me the most. It’s a personal value of mine as well. I just realise the importance of relationships not only with our clients, but also our colleagues as well, and the importance of relationships for building trust, which is really important.

Mandy: Messy or organised?

Sascha Nicoll: I’m very organised.

Mandy: What’s your favourite thing about where you live?

Sascha Nicoll: I live in Invercargill, which is my hometown where I was born. One of my favourite things about being here is I still have family here as well, and it’s also in a good location that’s close to cool places like Queenstown and Wanaka where you can get away.

Mandy: What’s one thing on your bucket list?

Sascha Nicoll: One thing on my bucket list is to take my children travelling overseas and to hopefully show them some of the places that I travelled to when I was younger.

Mandy: Do you have a hidden talent?

Sascha Nicoll: My hidden talent is drawing and art. I quite enjoy it! I did it a lot when I was younger and not so much now, but yeah, that’s probably a hidden talent of mine.

Mandy: Can you share a motto or personal mantra you like live by?

Sascha Nicoll: Something that I like to live by is to treat others the way that you want them to treat you.
